Kweku Collins takes us around the world with his winding and moody single “International Business Trip,” building hype for his upcoming EP grey.
Fresh off a European tour, Kweku Collins uses this single to look back on his steady rise as an artist. The cut is propelled by a ricocheting rhythm section and Collins’ signature slurred and introspective bars. As per usual, the melody of this track is woozy and addictive. Collins may rap about being a “foreigner,” but he’s far from a stranger to bringing sweet tones to complement a gloomy beat.
Collins gets reflective on this track, looking at how far his career has come: “feels like we walked the world.” Following his acclaimed 2016 album Nat Love, this track further proves that Kweku Collins is firmly in his own lane within the Chicago scene. He’s not drill, he’s not spoken word, he’s not Midwestern gospel, but he is definitely hip-hop.
