WebsterX rises above his darkness with an unexpected pulse of color in the new visuals for single “Blue Streak” off his debut project Daymares.
First in what I hope to be a long line of videos from Daymares, these visuals for “Blue Streak” feature Web at the center of almost every shot, “gazing down from higher clouds,” trying to find a balance between light and dark. While the color palette for each scene is dominated by dark tones, there are seemingly endless flits of brightness. Flashes of neon and pops of warm colors capture the theme of the track as well as the album: WebsterX overcoming his depression.
WebsterX raps about finally finding himself after a long bout of depression in late-2013. His flow is mean as he shoots a few aggressive looks at the camera, but that anger gives way to a moment of triumph and Web recounting “dodging a therapist” with the help of his family and his art. We transition to Web at the center of a crowd that’s vibing out to his music, because “all this shit is magic.” In the midst of all that energy, Webster keeps his composure and stays humble.
