Brainfeeder bass guitarist, vocalist and producer Thundercat, prominent for his work with Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus and his jazz fusion, soul and funk flavoured solo albums, puts his 2017 chips on the table with Drunk, a 23 track album with a run time of roughly 50 minutes. It seems as though from the track-listing he will take on personal thematic topics of alcohol, love and potentially political identity, however that is up for speculation. What is certain though is Thundercat’s innate skill in crafting rounded hills of bass guitar with viscous vocals that drape over the bass, complimented by funky instrumentation that polishes the sound to pristine smooth rhythms, and tongue in cheek sarcasm and quirks dotted in.
